He received his B.S., M.S. and Ph. D degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern Polytechnic University. He also served as Assistant Professor, Lecturer and Associate Professor at the same University from 1987 to 1996. He performed post-doctoral research at ISSP, CAS in 1996-1998. He was appointed as a full Professor in ISSP since Jan. 1999. Dr. Meng visited Max-Planck-Institute for Metal Research, Stuttgart, Germany several times from 1998 to 2001, and worked at Nanotechnology Center in Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, USA as a Postdoctoral Research Associate from 2002 to 2004. Dr. Meng’s current research focuses on new synthesis methods for 1D nanomaterials, hierarchically branched hybrid nanostructures, and their properties. As project head, Dr. Meng has carried out one project of National Basic Research Program of China, two projects from NSFC including National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and other projects from CAS. Dr. Meng has co-authored more than 100 papers in international journals, and has got more than 1000 citations. He received The State Natural Science Award, P.R.China in 2006. There are six Ph.D students and two M.S. students in his group. Students majoring in condensed matter physics, materials science and chemistry are welcomed.
