Research Profile

Zeng Changgan is a professor and Ph.D. supervisor at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). From September 1993 to June 1997, Zeng studied at the Department of Modern Physics, USTC, where he received his bachelor’s degree. From September 1997 to July 2002, he studied at the Physical and Chemical Science Center of USTC and earned his Doctor of Science degree upon graduation. (During the period between December 2001 and February 2002, he was a Research Assistant at the University of Munster, Germany.) From September 2002 to August 2007, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Tennessee, USA. Since 2007, he has been working as a professor at the Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at Microscale and the Department of Physics, USTC.
Professor Zeng has been selected into the list of “Hundred Talents Program” of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and the “New Century Talents Supporting Program” of the Ministry of Education since 2008. Zeng has previously won the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the CAS Presidential Scholarship, the scholarship granted by the “Qiu Shi Science & Technologies Foundation” of Hong Kong, and the “May Fourth Scholarship” granted by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China. Zeng has had a total of 23 research papers published in journals indexed by SCI including one in Nature Mater., five in Phys. Rev. Lett., one in Nature, and one in J. Am. Chem. Soc., among which 10 papers were indexed by the online journal Virtual Journal of Nanoscale Science & Technology. The total number of citations reached 450, and the total number of citations by others accounted for 364 with the H factor being 13. Besides, he has written one chapter of review article in English. Zeng has been invited to give a report for 3 times in international and national academic conferences and seminars, including the invitation report at the annual meeting of the American Physical Society in March 2007. Moreover, he has applied for two patents.
