Research Profile

ZHOU Hongyan, born in Suqian, Jiangsu Province, in Sept. 1966, is a professor and doctoral supervisor in Department of Astronomy, and director of Antarctic Astronomy Research Institute, and deputy director of Center for Antarctic Astronomy of China. He received his BSc in plasma physics  in July 1989 and PhD in astrophysics in July 2003 from USTC. He was a visiting professor in Department of Astronomy, University of Florida from May 2006 to April 2007 and was a Humboldt scholar at Max-Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics from May 2007 to June 2009. His research area is galaxies and quasi-stellar objects. Dr. Zhou has published more than 50 papers in journals such as APJ with more than 800 citations. He has led and participated in seven projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Ministry of Science and Technology. He has taught such courses as “Thermology”, "Electromagnetics”, “Electrodynamics”, and “Celestial Bodies”.
