Research Profile

Ji Jie, male, born in 1963, currently serves as a professor and doctoral supervisor at the University of Science and Technology of China, while doubling as Dean of the Department of Thermal Science and Energy Engineering of USTC. Prof. Ji has long been engaged in research on solar energy application, air-conditioning heat pumps, energy saving, flow and heat transfer and other aspects of research. Prof. Ji had been to many research institutions such as the University of Tokyo, the University of Hong Kong and the University of Sheffield on academic exchange or research collaboration missions.
     Prof. Ji’s research in recent years mainly covers optical / thermal (PV / T) utilization, building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV), multi-functional heat pumps (MHP) systems, solar heat pump (SAHP) systems, PV-Trombe wall systems, etc. He has published over 100 research papers in academic journals both at home and abroad and presided over a number of research projects such as projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and key projects supported by the National Science & Technology Pillar Program in the Eleventh Five-year Plan Period. Academic positions that Prof. Ji assumes include: Member of the Solar Thermal Utilization Specialty Committee of CRES, Member of the Energy-Saving Committee for Architecture of China, Member of Editorial Board of Energy and Environment, and Acta Energiae Solaris Sinica, Invited Peer Reviewer for Applied Energy, Journal of Zhejiang University, Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University, etc., Branch Chairman of the World Solar Energy Conference (SWC2007) and the Seminar on Renewable Energy Science (2006), Compiling Expert of the Project Guidelines of the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (namely, the “863” Program), member of the grant review panel for foundations of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the National Natural Science Foundation.
