Research Profile

    BSc (1983)in physics and DSc (1994)in condensed matter physics from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). From July 1983 to March 2009, Shi worked at the Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at Microscale (formerly known as the Physical and Chemical Science Center), USTC, and in May 1998, he was promoted to the post of Research Fellow (Professor). From April 1995 to April 1996, Shi undertook his research as a Visiting Scholar at the Faculty of Science and Engineering, Teikyo University, Japan. Since March 1999, Shi has assumed the post of Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Structural Analysis, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
     Prof. Shi is currently serving as committee member of the International Centre for Diffraction Data (ICDD), and member of the Committee on X-Ray Diffraction and the Committee on Defects of Solids of Chinese Physical Society. Professor Shi has long been engaged in research on the structure and physical properties of functional materials. He has conducted fruitful and systematic researches on high-temperature superconductivity, magnetoresistance materials, and metal organic complex. He has won two first prizes awarded by the China Association for Instrumental Analysis (CAIA), one fourth prize of the Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, and Zhuli Yuehua Excellent Techer’s Prize of Chinese Academic Sinica. Professor Shi has had a total of more than 150 research papers published in important international journals such as J. Am. Chem. Soc., Phys. Rev. B, Appl. Phys. Lett., etc. Besides, he has completed a number of research projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China. At present, Professor Shi is undertaking one subproject of the National Basic Research Program of China (also known as the “973” Program), and one project supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
