Research Profile

REN Xinguo is a professor at the Key Laboratory of Quantum Information. He got his BSc in physics from Nankai Nankai University in 1998 and MSc from institute of theoretical physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2001. From 2002 to 2006, he studied in University of Augsburg, Germany, and obtained his PhD in condensed matter physics in February 2006. From 2006 to 2012 Dr. Ren was a postdoc at the Fritz-Haber Institute of the Max-Planck Society in Berlin. He became a professor at University of Science and Technology since early 2013. 
Dr. Ren has been mainly engaged in the development and application of first-principles electronic structure theory, with particular focus on advanced electronic structure methods and software package development. He was and is one of the leading developer of the FHI-aims code package, and is currently also co-supervising the ABACUS code package. He is the head of the Max-Planck Partner Group for advanced electronic structure methods.
