Research Profile

DING Weixing got his PhD. from the University of Science and Technology of China in 1991.

His research interests include the development of new measurement techniques, exploration of magnetic fluctuation in fusion plasma as well as its impact on self-organization and anomalous transport of plasma. Dr. Ding has done pioneered work in the extensive application of the far-infrared polarization-interferometer diagnostic system in measurement of the fluctuation of the magnetic field within high-temp plasma, current density and density gradient, which as a non-interfering measurement technique has dramatically enhanced the measuring capability of the diagnostic system, ushering in a new physics research field of experimental plasma.

It has been decades since the far-infrared polarization-interferometer diagnostic system came into the plasma physics research field, which works by determining the magnetic filed strength within plasma based on the changes in the polarizing direction of light。
