Research Profile

I received my B.S. and M.S. degrees, in 2002 and 2004 respectively, from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, China. I obtained my Ph.D. degree from the Electrical Engineering Department, UCLA, in 2009. From 2009 to 2014, I worked for Qualcomm Research in San Diego, CA, focusing on various cutting-edge research topics including Cognitive Radio, TV White Space, 3GPP UMTS and LTE/LTE-A, 3GPP2 1xRTT and EV-DO, Heterogeneous Networks (HetNet), and Ultra-Dense Networks (UDN).
In 2015, I joined University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) as the 100 Talents Program Professor in the School of Information Science and Technology. My general research interests are in the area of communication theory, wireless networks, and information theory. In particular, my current research focuses on next-generation wireless networks, future networking architecture, self-organizing networks, machine learning, and statistical information processing.

Recruitment information
Prof. Shen's research group looks for highly motivated MS and PhD students to participate in exciting, cutting-edge research in the general area of wireless networks, big data analytics, and machine learning. Students will be working very closely with Prof. Shen on the state-of-the-art research topics in the aforementioned areas.
