Research Profile

 Chen Chunhua, male, born in 1964, currently works as a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Chemistry and Materials Science, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). He received his B.S. degree from the Department of Applied Chemistry of USTC in 1986, and his M.S. degree from the Department of Materials Science of USTC in 1989. From 1989 to 1992, he worked as a lecturer at the Department of Materials Science of USTC. From 1992 to 1994, he undertook collaborative research in Prof. A.J. Burggraaf’s Group, Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Twente in the Netherlands. From 1994 to 1998, he pursued his doctoral studies in Prof. J. Schoonman’s Group, Department of Chemical Engineering, Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. From 1998 to 2001, he did his postdoctoral work at the Chemical Technology Division, Argonne National Laboratory (USA). From 2001 to 2002, he worked as Staff Scientist at the Chemical Technology Division of Argonne National Laboratory. Since 2002, he has been working as a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering of USTC through the “Hundred Talents Program” of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
     Prof. Chen’s research area covers solid state ionics, lithium-ion batteries, synthesis of inorganic materials, films of functional ceramics, gas sensors, high Tc superconductors, etc. His current interest lies in high performance lithium-ion batteries.
