Research Profile

    Wang Haiqian is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Wang received his Bachelor of Science degree from the Department of Applied Chemistry, Tianjin University in 1984 and his doctoral degree in Condensed Matter Physics from the Department of Physics, USTC in 1992. Prof. Wang’s research involves low-dimensional physics, film technology and film materials. He has successively presided over a number of research projects supported by the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China (namely, the “863” Program) under the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and foundations of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In recent years, he has published academic papers in Nature, Phys. Rev. Lett., J. Am. Chem. Soc., and other journals indexed by SCI. Besides, he has had many patent applications authorized in the past. Prizes and honors that Professor Wang has been awarded include one grand prize of the Chinese Association for Instrumental Analysis (CAIA) Award in 2001, one first prize of the Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award in 2003, and one second prize of the National Natural Science Award in 2005.
At present, Prof. Wang is mainly engaged in the research on thin film technology, and control of the properties and structure of film materials.
