Research Profile

Xiaodong ZHANG, male, born in March 1960 in Anhui Province, Ph.D of Plasma Physics, Professor. Deputy director of Tokamak Division, Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Guest professor of University of Sciences and Technology Beijing. Main interests are plasma physics, Tokamak experiments and steadystate operations of superconducting Tokamak. The research currently emphasis focuses on the steadystate experiments, high confinement mode and numerical simulations of radial electric field.
  Dr. Zhang graduated from Engineering Physics Department of Qinghua University in 1984 and got M.S. and Ph.D degrees in Institute of Plasma Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. As a visiting scholar worked at Max-Planck Institute of Plasma Physics on W7-AS Stellarator of Germany from 1995 to 1997, Max-Planck Institute of Plasma Physics in Tokamak Physics Division of Germany in 2002 and National Institute for Fusion Sciences (NIFS) in Plasma Theory Division of Japan in 2002.
