Gong Xinglong, male, currently works as a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Department of Modern Mechanics, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Gong received his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree both in Solid Mechanics from USTC in 1988 and 1991 respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Solid Mechanics jointly conferred by Saitama University, Japan and University of Science and Technology of China. Prof. Gong’s laboratory was founded in the 1990s, and was re-founded as “Intelligent Materials and Vibration Control Laboratory” in September 2006. With continuous development, the laboratory owns now a strong support of software and hardware. The research area is gradually being expanded to an interdisciplinary research base involving mechanics, machinery, materials science, automation, etc. At present, Prof. Gong’s main research interests involve intelligent and functional materials, micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), vibration control, and dynamics of nanoparticles in complex field.
