Research Profile

     Pan Bicai is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Pan received his Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree from USTC in 1993. In the periods between 1995 and 1997, and between 2000 and 2003, he successively undertook collaborative research at the Ames National Laboratory, USA. He was selected into the "Hundred Talents Program" of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Pan won the Fourth Anhui Provincial Award for Youth in Science and Technology in 1999, and the Seventh National Award for Youth in Science and Technology in 2001.
     Professor Pan is currently teaching the courses of Quantum Mechanics (for undergraduates), Atomic Physics (for undergraduates), and Solid Computational Physics (for graduate students). His research interests lie in theoretical and computational studies over condensed matter physics and materials physics. His research involves clusters, nanowires / nanotubes, surfaces, defects in materials. He also generates the tight-binding potential models.
