Research Profile

Wu Xiaoping, female, born in Feb.1938 in Tianjin, professor, Ph.D. supervisor, CAS academician since 1997; graduated from Dept. of Mathematics and Mechanics of Peking University in 1960, majoring in Mechanics. Since 1960 she has been teaching in Dept. of Mechanics and Mechanical Engineering of USTC. She holds the social positions as standing member of council of Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, deputy director of Experimental Mechanics Society, chief editor of the journal Experimental Mechanics, member of Project Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education and member of editorial board of Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica.
She mainly does research in the field of experimental mechanics, focusing on the theory, technology and application of optical image detection like holography, speckle and moiré, and researches on mechanical behavior of materials based on synchrotron radiation technology. Main research findings: law of speckle motion of laser and other related lights, measurement of non-contact laser speckle random vibration and shock, new electronic speckle interferometer and research on evolution of internal damage of materials caused by synchrotron radiation. She has published over 100 papers on academic journals at home and abroad, won the Major Scientific and Technological Achievements Award on CAS Science and Technology Conference, First Prize of CAS Major Scientific and Technological Achievements Award, Fourth Prize of National Natural Science Award, and was appraised as National Distinguished Woman, Model Worker of Anhui Province and CAS Excellent Teacher.
