Research Profile

    Yang Tao,professor and Ph.D. supervisor at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Yang is mainly engaged in the experimental study on quantum information, quantum mechanics, quantum communication and quantum computing. He has hosted and participated in many research projects such as those supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Basic Research Program of China (also known as the “973” Program), and the Knowledge Innovation Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Since 2001, he has published 13 research papers in high-level academic journals, including one in Nature, two in Nature Physics and 10 in Phys. Rev. Lett.. His research findings have successively entered the list of “Top 10 Advances in Science and Technology in China” and the list of “Top 10 Achievements in Science and Technology in Chinese Universities” in 2003 and 2004 respectively. At the same time, his achievements have been rated by the American Physical Society as one of the annual major events in international physics of the year 2004 and by the European Physical Society as Top Ten News of in international physics of the year 2004. The related research findings have won the first prize of Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award in 2006. He has also been listed as one of the awardees supported by the New Century Excellent Talents Program Award of China in 2005 and the National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars of China in 2006.
