Research Profile

Prof. Dr. YUAN Ye-Fei, male, born on Aug.19,1972 in Dangtu, Anhui Province; Ph.D. in Astrophysics, USTC, 1999; exceptionally promoted to associate professor of USTC in Jan.2001; promoted to professor in Dec.2005; Award of Excellence, CAS President Scholarship in 1998; selected into New Century Talents Program in 2005; currently serves as executive dean of Dept. of Astronomy. He was sent by China Scholarship Council to Dept. of Astronomy of Harvard University as senior visiting scholar from 2002 to 2003. He was invited to visit and do joint research in Dept. of Physics of Hongkong University in 2001 and 2004. At present he is teaching senior students and graduate students Introduction to Astrophysics, Thermodynamics and Statistical Physics, General Relativity and Relativistic Astrophysics, and doing theoretical research of astrophysics mainly focusing on relativistic astrophysics and physics of compact objects. He is a member of International Astronomy Union, standing director of Chinese Astronomical Society, member of the council of Branch of gravitation and relativistic astrophysics, Chinese Physical Society and member of Astronomical Society of Anhui Province.
