Research Profile

Chen Haibo, male, currently works as a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Department of Modern Mechanics, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC). Chen received his Ph.D. in Solid Mechanics from the Department of Modern Mechanics of USTC in July 1996. From July 1996 to June 2000, Chen was a lecturer at the Department of Modern Mechanics, USTC. From June 2000 to December 2005, Chen worked as an associate professor at the Department of Modern Mechanics of USTC. In December 2005, Chen was elevated to the rank of professor and doctoral supervisor of the Department of Modern Mechanics, USTC. From February 1998 to July 1998, Chen undertook research as a visiting scholar at Cardiff University, UK. From April 1999 to July 2001, Chen was a Humboldt Research Fellow at the University of Karlsruhe, Germany. From August 2007 to December 2007, Chen was a visiting professor at Shinshu University, Japan. At present, Prof. Chen serves as Member of the International Association of Computational Mechanics, Invited Member of the 6th Computational Mechanics Committee of the Chinese Association of Mechanics, Secretary General of the Anhui Provincial Association of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, and Member of the Council of the Anhui Provincial Society of Vibration Engineering. Prof. Chen’s research interests are: computational mechanics in engineering, vibration engineering, aerospace engineering, structure engineering, and failure and fatigue mechanics.
