Research Profile

    Zhu Xifeng, male, born in May 1962 in Nanling, Anhui, received bachelor’s degree in Machinery Manufacturing in 1983 and master’s degree in Mechanics in 1986, both from Hefei University of Technology. He earned doctoral degree in Fluid Power Transmission and Control in 1996 from Zhejiang University. From 1996 to 1998 he did postdoctoral research in Thermal Power Engineering in USTC and from 2002 to 2003 he did visiting research in BTG, Holland. He is currently a professor and Ph.D. supervisor at Dept. of Thermal Science and Energy Engineering of USTC, deputy director of Anhui Province Key Laboratory of Biomass Clean Energy, member of expert group of Committee of Energy Resources of CAS, member of Committee of Energy System of China Energy Research Society, member of China Association of Biomass Technology and standing member of council of Anhui Renewable Energy Industry Association. 
His main research fields are biomass pyrolysis for bio-oil, bio-oil properties and combustion technology, and application of bio-oil refining. Currently he is presiding over research projects like National Major Basic Research Plan (973 Plan), National Science Support Program, National Natural Science Foundation, CAS Knowledge Innovation Project and Anhui Scientific and Technological Critical Projects. He also took part in the research of 211 Project as academic mainstay. He has developed biomass pyrolysis liquefaction and gasification plant of varied kinds and sizes, among which the self-heating biomass pyrolysis technology has been in the pilot phase of industrialization. In recent five years, he has published one monograph in the field of biomass energy and over 30 academic papers. There are 11 patents he has applied for and been granted.
